About this recording

This short-form clip was recorded around Subic Bay Freeport Zone on April 21, 2024. It is kept as a separate short-video page rather than being presented as an immersive 360° tour.

Its value in the archive is as a quick visual companion to the longer location coverage. From here, use the related-video links to continue into immersive 360° footage from Subic Bay Area where available.

A long-running home-area archive

Subic Bay, Olongapo and the surrounding Freeport make up one of the deepest parts of the 360 Tour archive because they have been filmed repeatedly over many years. That makes the collection useful not only as travel footage but also as a record of roads, businesses, attractions and everyday routes at different points in time.

Road layouts and traffic patterns have changed during the life of the archive. More recent local changes include additional one-way routing on some roads and a newer bridge connection between the Freeport and Olongapo, both of which can change how a present-day trip compares with older footage. Older videos should therefore be treated as a view of the place on the recorded date, not as turn-by-turn current navigation.

Real-world camera testing

Camera-test footage on 360 Tour is most useful when it can be compared with ordinary travel footage from the same equipment. Instead of treating specifications as the whole story, the gear section connects cameras to the walks, rides, indoor scenes, shaded trails and low-light situations they actually recorded.

First-hand Insta360 X4 experience

The X4 replaced an aging Insta360 ONE X2 as part of a normal two- to three-year gear upgrade cycle. The reasons were practical as well as technical: batteries age quickly in a hot climate, while the X4 brought larger sensors, higher resolution, Active HDR and more AI-assisted features.

Although 8K was tested, 5.7K Active HDR became the more useful everyday mode. In practice, the extra dynamic range and low-light improvement mattered more than repeatedly producing very large 8K files that YouTube would often deliver to viewers at a lower effective quality after processing.
